Martha Holmberg is a prominent food writer known for her contributions to the culinary world through her cookbooks and editorial work. She has authored or co-authored nine cookbooks, including 'Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables,' which won a James Beard Award, and 'Modern Sauces,' which was a finalist for the same prestigious award. Holmberg has also collaborated with chef Joshua McFadden on 'Grains for Every Season,' another finalist for the James Beard Award, showcasing her expertise in seasonal cooking and innovative recipes.
In addition to her writing, Holmberg served as the editor-in-chief of Fine Cooking magazine for a decade and was the food editor for The Oregonian newspaper in Portland, Oregon. She also founded MIX magazine, further establishing her influence in the food journalism field. Before her editorial career, she honed her culinary skills at La Varenne in Paris, where she worked as a private chef. Currently, she resides in Spokane, Washington, where she enjoys gardening and outdoor activities with her partner.
