William J. Kraemer, PhD, is a professor in the department of kinesiology at Ohio State University. He has an extensive academic background, having previously worked in the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Connecticut and served as a professor in both the department of physiology and neurobiology and the department of medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Kraemer also held multiple appointments at Pennsylvania State University, where he contributed as a professor of applied physiology and director of research in the Center for Sports Medicine.
Kraemer has been actively involved in sports science, serving on the Sports Medicine Committee for the United States Weightlifting Federation and the Sport Science and Technology Committee for the United States Olympic Committee. He has received several accolades, including the Provost’s Research Excellence Award from the University of Connecticut in 2005 and the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As an editor, he has significantly contributed to the field, having served as editor in chief of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and currently as an associate editor for Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise.
