Jonathon M. Sullivan, MD, PhD, FACEP, SSC, is an emergency physician and physiologist who specializes in health and fitness for adults aged forty to ninety. He is the owner-operator of Greysteel Strength and Conditioning, a coaching practice dedicated to improving strength and fitness in this demographic. Sullivan frequently writes on topics related to health, strength, and fitness, with his articles available on startingstrength.com and greysteel.org. He also hosts the Greysteel Channel on YouTube, which focuses on healthy aging.
In addition to his coaching and writing, Sullivan is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University and serves as an Attending Physician at Detroit Receiving Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center. He has a strong background in research, having served as Associate Director of the WSU Emergency Medicine Cerebral Resuscitation Laboratory, where he focused on brain injury and repair following stroke, trauma, and cardiac arrest. Sullivan has published numerous articles, abstracts, and book chapters on these subjects and is a founding member of the Starting Strength Coaches Association.
