Dr. James Hoffmann holds a PhD in Sport Physiology and is a coach for Renaissance Periodization. He served as the Program Director of the Exercise and Sport Science program and was the women’s Rugby team coach at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. During his tenure at Temple, he taught courses in strength and conditioning theory, strength and conditioning practice, exercise physiology, and biochemistry.
James earned his PhD under Dr. Mike Stone at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), focusing on the application of sled pushing to enhance sport performance in Rugby players. He has extensive coaching experience, having worked as the assistant coach and Head Sport Scientist for the Rugby team at ETSU, where he was also the head strength and conditioning coach and weight room manager. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, James is a lifelong athlete with competitive experience in Rugby, American Football, and Wrestling, and is currently pursuing Thai boxing.
