I currently hold the title of James B. Duke Professor of Psychology & Behavioral Economics at Duke University. Additionally, the Center for Advanced Hindsight is another testament to my achievements as its founder.
In the realm of literary endeavors, I've authored several acclaimed works. Three of my books have featured in the New York Times bestsellers list; these include Predictably Irrational, The Upside of Irrationality, and The Honest Truth About Dishonesty. Other publications, though not marked by the New York Times, are nonetheless significant. These consist of Irrationally Yours, Payoff, Amazing Decisions, and Dollars and Sense.
Current Projects
One of my latest projects is a new book, MISBELIEF: WHAT MAKES RATIONAL PEOPLE BELIEVE IRRATIONAL THINGS. The book pulls from my personal experiences as the target of conspiracy theories, though it covers a broader phenomenon affecting everyone. The term 'misbelief,' introduced in this context, refers to a distorted lens that influences how people perceive, reason about, and describe the world to others.
Outside of academia and literary works, I'm intimately involved with the establishment and growth of startups. Among my entrepreneurial efforts are Lemonade, Shapa, Irrational Capital, BEWorks, Epilog, Timeful, and Irrational Labs. All of these ventures are testaments to the joy I take in seeing my work take real-life form.
Upcoming Endeavours
One of my pending pursuits is my involvement with a new NBC TV series set to premiere in the fall of 2023. Loosely based on my life & my first book Predictably Irrational, the series is aptly titled "The Irrational". This venture represents an exciting fusion of my academic work and popular culture.
