Saifedean Ammous is a Palestinian-Jordanian economist and author, recognized for his influential writings on Bitcoin and economic theory. He gained international acclaim with his best-selling book, The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking, published in 2018 and translated into 37 languages. In 2021, he released The Fiat Standard: The Debt Slavery Alternative to Human Civilization, which is available in 26 languages. His latest work, Principles of Economics, published in 2023, serves as a comprehensive textbook in the Austrian school tradition and has been translated into 14 languages.
In addition to his writing, Ammous teaches courses on the economics of Bitcoin and Austrian economics through his online platform, Saifedean.com. He also hosts The Bitcoin Standard Podcast, where he discusses various topics related to Bitcoin and economics. Previously, he served as a professor of Economics at the Lebanese American University from 2009 to 2019. Ammous holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University, a Master's in Development Management from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
