David Talbot is an American journalist, author, editor, and independent historian recognized for his exploration of the hidden history of U.S. power and the liberal movements aimed at reforming America. He is the New York Times-bestselling author of several notable works, including 'The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA and the Rise of America's Secret Government' and 'Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years.' His latest book, 'By the Light of Burning Dreams: The Triumphs and Tragedies of the Second American Revolution,' coauthored with his sister Margaret Talbot, delves into the lives of radical leaders from the 1960s and 70s.
In addition to his writing, Talbot is the founder and former editor-in-chief of Salon, a pioneering online publication. He has held editorial positions at Mother Jones magazine and has contributed articles to various prominent publications, including The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, and the Washington Post. Talbot's work is characterized by its advocacy for social change and its critical examination of American history. He is married to author Camille Peri, and their family includes a son, Joe Talbot, who directed the acclaimed film 'The Last Black Man in San Francisco.'
