Darlene D. Pedersen is a psychotherapist and advanced practice psychiatric nurse with a focus on the biological basis of mental disorders and psychopharmacology. She received her clinical training as a registered nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital and earned her graduate education in adult and geriatric psychiatric nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her MSN degree. Darlene is also a member of the Education Council of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
Darlene is the author of several clinical guides, including the sixth edition of PsychNotes, which addresses critical topics such as Telepsychiatry, Teletherapy, and the impact of Covid-19 on mental health. Her work aims to provide practical information for healthcare providers and improve the quality of care for individuals dealing with mental illness. The fourth edition of PsychNotes received first place in the 2013 AJN Book of the Year Award in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. Additionally, her guide Pocket Psych Drugs offers comprehensive coverage of psychotropics and practical considerations for various populations.
