Dr. Benjamin Bikman earned a Ph.D. in Bioenergetics from East Carolina University, where he concentrated on the adaptations to metabolic surgeries in obesity. He furthered his research on metabolic disorders, particularly insulin resistance, during his postdoctoral fellowship at the Duke-National University of Singapore. Currently, he serves as a professor at Brigham Young University and directs the Diabetes Research Lab, where his work continues to focus on the role of insulin in regulating human metabolism and its implications for chronic diseases.
In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Bikman is dedicated to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in their research endeavors. He and his students regularly present their findings at conferences and contribute to academic publications. Dr. Bikman is also the author of several books, including 'Why We Get Sick: The Hidden Epidemic at the Root of Most Chronic Disease--and How to Fight It' and 'How Not to Get Sick: A Cookbook and Guide to Prevent and Reverse Insulin Resistance, Lose Weight, and Fight Chronic Disease.' He resides in Provo, Utah with his family.
