Founding The Vanguard Group
Renowned as the Founder of The Vanguard Group, Inc., John C. Bogle stationed his roots in Bryn Mawr, PA. His impressive journey began in 1974 when he created Vanguard, serving as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until 1996. His association with the company, however, extends further back to 1951, immediately after he graduated magna cum laude in Economics from Princeton University.
The Vanguard Group and Its Achievements
The Vanguard Group is today considered one of the two largest mutual fund organizations in the world. With its headquarters in Malvern, Pennsylvania, the company boasts over 100 mutual funds, its current assets amounting to approximately $742 billion. The shining jewel in the crown of the company remains the Vanguard 500 Index Fund, which Mr. Bogle himself founded in 1975.
