Jordan Ross Belfort is an American former stockbroker and businessman who gained notoriety for his role in stock-market manipulation and running a boiler room as part of a penny-stock scam in 1999. He pleaded guilty to fraud and related crimes, which led to a 22-month prison sentence. During his time in prison, Belfort became an informant for the FBI, providing testimony against numerous partners and subordinates involved in his fraudulent activities.
In addition to his criminal activities, Belfort is known for his memoir, 'The Wolf of Wall Street,' published in 2007. The book details his rise and fall in the finance world and was later adapted into a film directed by Martin Scorsese, released in 2013, where he was portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. Belfort has also authored 'Way of the Wolf: Straight Line Selling,' contributing to his reputation as a motivational speaker and sales trainer.
