Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., a published neuroanatomist trained at Harvard, is best known for her memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientists Personal Journey (Penguin, 2008). In addition to her memoir, she published Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life (HayHouse) in 2021.
Her contributions to neuroscience extend beyond her publications. She is also affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine and serves as the national spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, also known as the Brain Bank.
Accomplishments and Recognition
Dr. Taylor's work has gained significant recognition. She made it to Time magazine's list of 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008. Furthermore, her TED talk titled 'My Stroke of Insight' earned the distinction of being the first TED talk to go viral on the internet.
Besides her appearances on TED, Dr. Taylor was the premier guest on Oprah Winfrey's webcast Soul Series in 2008, further cementing her place as an influential figure in the world of neuroscience.
