Dr. Brené Brown serves as a research professor at the University of Houston, holding the prestigious Huffington Foundation Endowed Chair at the Graduate College of Social Work. Additionally, she takes on the role of visiting professor in management at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.
Over the past two decades, Brené has devoted her studies to courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. She is a prolific author, with six #1 New York Times best sellers to her credit. Moreover, she hosts two Spotify podcasts, Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead, both of which have won awards.
Bound by no language limits, Brené’s books have been translated into over 30 languages. Her noteworthy titles include Atlas of the Heart, Dare to Lead, Braving the Wilderness, Rising Strong, Daring Greatly, and The Gifts of Imperfection. She also co-edited the best-selling anthology You Are Your Best Thing: Vulnerability, Shame Resilience, and the Black Experience with Tarana Burke.
Her TED talk on the Power of Vulnerability holds a place among the top five most-viewed TED talks globally, boasting over 50 million views. Brené is also recognized as the first researcher to deliver a filmed lecture on Netflix. Fast-forwarding to March 2022, she launched a new show on HBO Max, focusing on her latest book, Atlas of the Heart.
Brené spends the majority of her time working in organizations worldwide, assisting with the development of braver leaders and more courageous cultures. She resides in Houston, Texas, with her husband Steve and their two children, Ellen and Charlie. They also have a Bichon named Lucy as part of their family.
